Capuchin’s Crypt
Description
Together we explore the cemetery of the Habsburg family, one of the most powerful dynasties that shaped Austria's history for almost 650 years. Over the past 400 years, 150 members of the Habsburg family have been buried in the Capuchin’s Crypt, including 12 emperors and 17 empresses - a royal density that is unique in the world. We meet personalities whose decisions shaped the course of history.
Among others, we meet Empress Maria Theresa, the only woman ever to rule the Habsburg Empire, Emperor Franz Joseph, whose decision led to the outbreak of the First World War, and his legendary wife, Empress Elisabeth, also known as Sisi, who continues to fascinate to this day.
